Finding your style..

If you’ve ever sat down to create something and felt paralyzed by the pressure to “find your style,” you’re not alone. Whether you're writing, designing, building a brand, or starting a nonprofit, the question of style often feels overwhelming. But here’s the truth: your style isn’t something you find — it’s something you grow into by simply creating what you love.

Stop Trying to Please Everyone

The biggest trap? Trying to appeal to everyone. When you create for the masses, your work becomes diluted. You lose the edge that makes it yours. Instead of asking, “Will people like this?” ask, “Do I like this?” When you honor your own taste, preferences, and creative gut, your voice becomes stronger — and ironically, more attractive to the right audience.

Take the Pressure Off

Style isn’t some magical revelation you stumble upon. It’s the result of experimenting, evolving, and making things you enjoy. Some things will flop. Others will feel amazing. The key is to keep going, even when the outcome isn’t perfect. That’s where your uniqueness begins to shine.

Create Like No One’s Watching

When you stop trying to impress and start creating from instinct, you unlock something powerful: authenticity. Your style comes through when you're not overthinking every choice. Take creative chances, even if they don’t make sense to others. Consistency comes after experimentation — not before it.

Trust What Feels Good

There’s no universal roadmap to style. But here’s a compass: create what feels good. If you love clean lines, go with them. If you’re drawn to color and playfulness, embrace that. Don’t worry if it’s “on trend.” The most timeless styles come from people who trust their gut and stay true to it.

Final Thought

I was having the same issue when creating this website.. I had no idea what was going to appeal to the audience I was looking for. I tried colorful, dark, playful, plain and it just never felt right. I started to realize that the reason I started The Nonprofit Blueprints was because it was something I wish I had.. my audience is people like me just looking for the guidance and easy to find information. The easiest decision after that was just creating images, posts and style that I liked looking at. Currently, I’m going through a vintage phase (home decor as well) and when I started to create for my own liking, everything started coming together pretty quickly.

Your style isn’t hiding from you — it’s waiting to be revealed through repetition, curiosity, and honest expression. So let go of the pressure to get it perfect. Start creating what you love. Do it again. And again. That’s where your style lives.

And the best part? It was yours all along.
